(LEX 18)– Shoppers spend trillions of dollars online every year, but one survey shows that billions of those dollars are coming from people who are drunk. That survey also shows that Kentucky is number one when it comes to drunk online shopping.
Online shopping is easy and convenient, but turns out it’s even more so after a glass or two of bourbon.
“We see a lot of folks shopping online at night. I mean, I don’t know for certain if they’re drunk but we’re selling shirts that say stuff like ‘USA Bourbon Drinking Team’ and ‘Bourbon Breath,'” said Kentucky for Kentucky co-owner Whit Hiler.
Kentucky for Kentucky likes to promote all of Kentucky, and drunk online shoppers are embraced by the store.
The survey from The Hustle posted the results of the Drunk Shopping Census and Kentucky took the number one spot.
The Hustle says that Kentuckians top the charts with a $742 annual spend.
“Obviously, I think Kentuckians consume more bourbon than any other state in the US,” said Hiler.
If you are one of the many Kentuckians contributing to Kentucky’s late night, drunken shopping habits, the folks at Kentucky for Kentucky want you to know, it’s okay. They’ve been there too, and the evidence is at the Kentucky Fun Mall.
“We’re also guilty of doing some drunk shopping. I mean, there’s a truck back there. I think we bought that when we were drunk. There’s a ski ball machine over there that probably got purchased when we were drunk,” Hiler admitted.
