FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18)- A Frankfort couple has been indicted in a child abuse case.

Corey Redding and his girlfriend Leslie Newman are both indicted for first-degree child abuse. The Commonwealth’s Attorney tells LEX 18 that the abuse allegations disgust him.

Redding is accused of physically abusing Newman’s children, ages 10 and 6. Prosecutors say that Redding used physical abuse as a form of discipline. The children were malnourished and had bruising from belts and hangers. They were also forced to stand in closets for a long time as punishment.

According to the indictment, the pair acted individually or in complicity with each other to commit the crime. Prosecutors believe the mother knew about the abuse and did nothing to stop it.
