LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– The man who entered a guilty plea to shooting and killing a teenager on Thanksgiving Day in 2016 has been sentenced.

Kevin Ipina-Garcia reportedly killed 14-year-old Angel Juarez at his home on Henton Road in Lexington.

Police say when he was arrested, Ipina-Garcia admitted shooting a gun several times hitting Juarez.

Ipina-Garcia told police he was looking for Angel’s older brother because he thought he set him up to be robbed the night before.

Judge VanMeter sentenced Ipina-Garcia on Friday to a total of 33 years: 23 years for murder, five years for wanton endangerment, and five years for tampering with physical evidence. The sentence will run consecutively.
