LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE 3)– The former Metropolitan Sewer District truck driver charged in the death of a Louisville police detective has been released from jail on home incarceration.

Investigators say Roger Burdette was driving an MSD truck on Christmas Eve when he hit Detective Diedre Mengedoht’s cruiser on I-64 in downtown Louisville.

Toxicology reports show Burdette had a variety of prescription drugs in his system, but no prescriptions for those pills.

Burdette was fired from MSD about two weeks after the crash.

He’s charged with murder and DUI.
