ANDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– The woman police say was driving a car that flipped in a fatal crash pleaded guilty in exchange for a lesser charge.

May will make two years since 17-year-old Sydney Peffer died in a car crash. Brianna Watson was driving the car when police say she missed a turn, causing the car to flip. Watson was charged with manslaughter but in exchange for a guilty plea, prosecutors changed her charge to reckless homicide, meaning she faces a maximum of five years in prison.

Peffer’s family says they are far from happy. They say that no amount of prison time will bring their loved one back. They hope that Watson will take the time to think about what happened.

“We want remorse from her and we haven’t gotten any. It’s not about jail because we don’t want her to spend even five years in jail. We want her to learn that what she did was wrong and what she did hurt a lot of people,” said Peffer’s cousin Amanda Wise.
