PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Emergency crews in Perry County are hoping that the severe weather doesn’t further complicate their tireless search for a missing 53-year-old man.

The search for Danny Napier began three weeks ago. Police believe he may have fallen in floodwaters, but navigating the Kentucky River has proven difficult for crews.

Relentless rain and rising water levels forced crews to suspend the search for about a week. Wednesday was the first day back and they covered 45 miles of river by boat, foot, and drones.

On Thursday, the winds were howling and crews were bracing for more severe weather.

Last month, Napier’s bike and other belongings were found near the North Fork of the Kentucky River. At the time, the river was overflowing and considered dangerous.

The search continues, but crews say this is now a recovery.
