LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) -The surviving victim of a shooting at a Lexington bar is fighting for his life.

The incident happened at Uncle 7’s bar off Clays Mill Road Monday.  Police say Larry Walters became involved in an altercation with James Terry at the bar. Terry later died of his injuries.

Another individual, who was hurt, is a well-loved neighborhood staple. According to a caretaker, the second victim is a man named Stevie (his family did not want his last name released.)

Family tells LEX 18  that Stevie is a mentally handicapped man who loves to help out at local businesses, including Uncle 7’s bar. He is well-known for impersonating Elvis and chatting with locals.

People who work nearby say Stevie was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“It’s just very unfortunate. I just met some of the people who were up there they all seem very nice I don’t know why anybody would want to hurt anybody but it’s not surprising for Lexington,” Gary Norsworthy, who works nearby, told LEX 18.

His family tells LEX 18 that the bullet punctured his liver. They didn’t think he was going to make it through the night. He is expected to undergo a second surgery this afternoon.
