BRECKINRIDGE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Kentucky sheriff found himself on the wrong side of the law after allegedly crashing his personal vehicle while intoxicated.
Breckinridge County Sheriff Todd Pate was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Friday. Kentucky State Police said Pate crashed into another vehicle and a utility pole before coming to a stop at a barbed-wire fence.
The driver of the other vehicle was treated for minor injuries, officials said.
Authorities said Pate failed field sobriety tests and then registered a .159 percent blood-alcohol concentration, nearly twice the legal limit, on a breath test at the jail.
Pate was being held in Hardin County after being charged with second offense DUI.
In 2015 Pate pleaded guilty to a DUI charge stemming from an arrest in Bowling Green.
