Gas Line Work May Get Loud On Lexington’s North Side

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — What’s that sound?

Columbia Gas is advising Lexington residents living near near New Circle Road on the city’s north side that a project to purge gas from an old line, a procedure that can get noisy.

The work is being done Saturday morning near where New Circle is being widened, between Boardwalk and Georgetown Road.

People near the scene should see gas workers and emergency personnel in the area. In addition to loud noise, the purge process may produce a odor of rotten eggs in the area.

Utility officials said the project is safe and closely monitored.
