FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18)– A state senator and activists will hold a news conference Friday in Frankfort, announcing proposed legislation on the automatic restoration of voting rights of convicted felons.

The ACLU of Kentucky and Americans For Prosperity will join Senator Morgan McGarvey, of Louisville, at the state Capitol.

The bill would let citizens vote on a constitutional amendment that would allow restoration upon the completion of sentences.

This would not apply to those convicted of murder, sexual crimes, or bribery in election.

McGarvey plans to file the legislation Friday.
