Sheriff: One Dead After Woman Falls Asleep While Driving

CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– One person is dead and multiple people are injured following a two vehicle accident in Clay County.

It happened Tuesday in the 9000 block of North Highway 421.

According to the sheriff’s department, the driver of a Chrysler Van told officials she had fallen asleep while driving, left the northbound lane, and crossed into the southbound lane striking a Jeep Wrangler head on.

The drivers of both vehicles was transported by Clay County EMS to Advent Health.

The passenger of the Jeep was pronounced dead on scene by the Clay County Coroners Office.

The victim’s name has not been released.
