LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) is helping the Catholic Action Center make sure that people experiencing homelessness have a warm place to go as the temperatures drop.
Ginny Ramsey with the Catholic Action Center tells LEX 18 that there are already 180 people signed up to stay at the center. The center only has 134 beds and the community room.
EDS has trailers typically used to house utility and FEMA workers during natural disasters. On Saturday, the president of EDS contacted Ramsey to see if they needed extra space for those who are homeless as the freezing weather moves in.
On Monday morning, EDS brought in two trailers holding 66 beds combined and moved it into the Catholic Action Center parking lot.
