LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Lexington police said Tuesday afternoon they are seeking a man who they say has a history of using a false medical story to con people out of money.

Authorities last week signed a warrant for the arrest of 54-year-old Sherman Denny for theft by deception.

Lexington police said a woman reported earlier this month that Denny approached her in a parking lot and told her he needed money for diabetes medication. He allegedly told the woman he would pay her back. Officials said the woman provided an undisclosed amount of money, while Denny provided her with a phony address and phone number.

Last August, LEX 18 reported police arrested Denny for similar attempted cons in the parking lot of St Joseph’s Office Park on Harrodsburg Road.

Police are asking anyone with information about Denny’s whereabouts to call 859-258-3600.

Anonymous tips, including photos and videos, can be submitted by texting LEXPD plus the tip to CRIMES (274637). Information can also be sent anonymously through Bluegrass Crime Stoppers at 859-253-2020 or www.bluegrasscrimestoppers.com.
