Gofundme Established For Family Who Lost Home, Pet In Fire

JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A coworker has started a GoFundMe page for a Jessamine County family who lost everything in a fire.

The fire happened last Wednesday on Woodview Drive in Nicholasville at a home belonging to the Goatee family. A family pet was killed in the blaze.

Crews say that when they got there, fire and smoke were pouring from the home. The fire started in the kitchen and firefighters were able to contain it to one side of the duplex.

Two adults, one child, and another dog made it out safely.

A coworker has established a crowdsourcing campaign to raise money for the family. She is also collecting clothes for the three.

Investigators say the home did not have a working smoke detector.
