FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18)– Republican state representative and candidate for governor, Robert Goforth, is adamantly denying allegations he sexually assaulted a woman 10 years ago.

According to the Commonwealth Journal, the allegations emerged over the weekend when former Somerset resident Alicia Whitaker posted an online petition.

Whitaker claims the incident involved Goforth and one of his business associates, and happened either in late 2008 or early 2009 in an apartment over a pharmacy that Goforth owned at the time.

Goforth issued a statement to the paper denying the allegations.

He did admit, however, being involved in a consensual relationship with Whitaker before his marriage.
