LOUISVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18)– The Courier Journal is apologizing to a dead woman’s family after they refused to print her obituary unless a critical line about President Donald Trump was removed.

Art Williams says his 87-year-old mother Frances Williams lost her life after a battle with COPD and coronary artery disease.

Art says he and his family wanted to plan a proper uncomplicated goodbye but that’s not what happened.

He says he received a call saying the Courier Journal rejected his mothers obituary because of one line.

“Her passing was hastened by her continued frustration with the Trump administration.”

The Williams family agreed to omit the line, so it would not distract from the memorial service.

But Art says he did give the newspaper a piece of his mind on social media.

Soon after Courier Journal reporters and editors apologized to the family.

The paper is now planning to run the original obit at no charge.
