(LEX 18)– Border patrol agents in California have arrested a convicted sex offender with ties to Kentucky, suspected of illegally entering the US.
34-year-old Wilfredo Perez-Aguilar was arrested Monday morning.
Officials say he is a Guatemalan national and a convicted sex offender in Kentucky.
Back in 2005, Perez-Aguilar was convicted of the sexual abuse and rape of a minor, and was sentenced to five years in prison.
He was deported in 2010 after serving his sentence.
Perez-Aguilar is currently being held in federal custody pending prosecution of re-entry and removal.
