LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Local furloughed employees are protesting the government shutdown outside of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s Lexington office.

Protestors lined Corporate Drive Monday morning with signs expressing their displeasure about their lack of a paycheck. For many, it was the first weekend without getting paid and they wanted to make their voice heard.

“We want to bring awareness to the public and also our legislatures about how critical it is for them to go back to the floor to get this government back open,” one protestor told LEX 18’s Claire Crouch.

This is the longest government shutdown in US history.
