PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– The City of Pikeville honored the life of a fallen police officer Friday.

There was a moment of silence and prayer for Scotty Hamilton at 1:11 p.m. The date and time correspond with his badge number — 111.

A radio call went out for unit 111 in the front parking lot of the Pikeville Police Department.

“Officer Hamilton, thank you for your service we will never forget,” said the call for the fallen officer.

Officers with Pikeville PD say that no one will ever replace Hamilton. He was kind and responsible. Officers say he was even respected by those he took to jail.

Several schools throughout the county asked staff and students to wear blue in his honor.

Hamilton was shot and killed last March while investigating a robbery. He left behind a young daughter and his wife.
