LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)- Lexington police say that the driver of a pickup truck was on the Interstate for six miles before he collided into a family of five on the way back from vacation.
According to new information, 911 calls reveal that Joey Bailey, the driver of the white pickup truck that was going the wrong way on I-75, got on the interstate at mile marker 113. At mile marker 107, Bailey’s truck collided with the Abbas family who was on their way back home after vacationing in Florida.
The family’s SUV caught on fire and all five of them were killed.
Bailey also died. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office said in a release that it is believed Bailey was driving under the influence, though toxicology results are pending.
