LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Some of Lexington’s newest and smallest residents will have a very merry Christmas thanks to a local project.

It’s called the “Snow Bunny  Baby Project” and it’s created to spread cheer to babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Women’s Hospital at St. Joseph East. This can be a stressful and difficult time for parents during the holiday season, so the project helps to make the holiday season a bit brighter.

“It’s a lonely place to be at the holidays of being in the hospital, especially with your brand new baby that you envision that you take home and be a part of the family and if you’ve got several kids at home and you’ve got kids in the hospital, it’s tough. so, you can see um that it brightens their day, their week, that someone’s thinking about them at Christmas, even though they’re going through a tough time,”  Sunny King, the founder of the project told LEX 18.

This is the fourth year the “Snow Bunny Baby Project” has donated items to hospitals in the Lexington area.

The NICU package includes a pack of diapers, wipes, a toy, washcloth, onesie, baby wash, and a book.
