SOMERSET, Ky. (LEX 18) – One of the men responsible for the death of a Pulaski County Sheriff nearly 20 years ago has died in prison.

Kenneth White passed away on November 23 in a state prison. The department of corrections says White died of natural causes.

White, Jeff Morris and Danny Shelley were convicted for their roles in the death of Sheriff Sam Catron.  Catron was killed during a fundraising event in 2002. Shelley was the triggerman.

The story made headlines nationally due to the sniper-style assassination and political motive. According to officials, White helped orchestrate the plan to get Morris into the position of sheriff.
