(LEX 18) — A Fleming County woman’s quest for singing stardom finally hit a roadblock Tuesday night on NBC’s “The Voice.”

MaKenzie Thomas was vying to take a fourth finalist spot after three other contestants moved on to the finale.

Thomas sang “Up to the Mountain,” by Patty Griffin, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Then America got to vote for an “instant save.”

In the end, Thomas’ teammate Kennedy Holmes was chosen to move on to the show’s Top Four.

Thomas nonetheless proved an inspiration, especially to the many fans in her hometown.
