ADAIR COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police have arrested a Tennessee man who they say admitted to having sex with a 14-year-old girl in Columbia.
Authorities say 39-year-old Samuel Hicks of Marysville, Tennessee, was arrested Dec. 8 near the girl’s home.
Police said they received a complaint Dec. 1 claiming Hicks had sex with the minor.
KSP says a trooper viewed messages on the social media platform SnapChat and determined that Hicks “knew he was meeting with a juvenile.”
Hicks was charged with third-degree sodomy, unlawful transaction with a minor — illegal sex act under 16 years of age and prohibited use of electronic communications to procure a minor.
Hicks was being held in the Adair County Regional Jail.
