LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– For 15 years, Lexington Fire Station 20 has dazzled the community with amazing Christmas light displays, but this year, a fellow fire station hopes to give them a run for their money.

“Here at Station 11, home of the jesters, the Christmas spirit flows through us,” said Lt. Curtis Manning. “There are other stations that spend like, three months planning and trying to get their lights display up, and we decided with our love and some tenderness, what we could do in three hours.”

The result was impressive.

“We wanted it to be so magnificent that it rivaled the Luxor Pyramid and that you could be able to see it from space,” said Manning.

The folks at Station 20 heard about Station 11 channeling their inner Clark Griswold, but they say they’re not worried.

“It’s kind of hard to compare apples and oranges,” said Captain John Grant, of Station 20. “I’m just tickled to death that they put some lights up this year.”

Whether it’s Christmas spirit or competitive spirit, both stations fo agree on one thing.

“It’s just a wonderful thing that we can get into the spirit and bring a lot of cheer to people,” said Lt. Curtis Manning.
