Clinton County Inmate Escapes During Processing

CLINTON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYM) – An inmate at the Clinton County Detention Center escaped from custody as he was being processed.

Officers from the Clinton County sheriff’s office and the Wayne County sheriff’s office arrested Danny Neal, of Clinton County, in Monticello. He was transported to the Clinton County Detention Center.

Officers had sought 47-year-old Neal for a parole violation in connection with a charge of Theft By Unlawful Taking or Disposition – Livestock, 3rd Degree, Burglary and two counts of Persistent Felony Offender, 2nd. While Neal was being processed at Clinton County Jail Monday night, a deputy jailer unlocked the front door to let a visitor out. Neal leaped from a chair, knocked a deputy jailer down and escaped.

Law enforcement officers searched for several hours but were unable to locate him. He is described as 5’7, weighs 270 pounds, has dark hair and was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, blue jeans, and black socks. He was not wearing any shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact law enforcement immediately. Police have not yet released a mug shot.
