PADUCAH, Ky. (WPSD) — Deputies in Kentucky are looking for a longtime California radio host who is missing. He was last seen at the Mellow Mushroom in Paducah, Kentucky.

Raphael “Ray” Taliaferro, 79, was in Kentucky with his wife checking out a property that she inherited. Investigators said that Taliaferro suddenly took their rental car and left his wife there. After leaving his wife, he was seen at the Mellow Mushroom in Paducah and his rental car was found at a nearby bank.

The missing posters suggest he might be disoriented and showing signs of dementia.

Police don’t believe that he has credit cards or his cellphone with him.

Taliaferro is a well-known personality in the San Francisco Bay area. He is in the National Association of Black Journalists Hall of Fame. The organization’s Ray Taliaferro NABJ Entrepreneurial Spirit Award is named after him.

He gained popularity on a late-night radio show for his commitment to human rights and his sharp wit.

If you have any information, you are asked to speak with authorities.
