Activists, Legislators Push To Restore Voting Rights To Some Felons

Posted

(LEX 18)– Activists and several state legislators are making a push to restore voting rights to some felons.

Kentucky is now one of two states that has not passed such legislation.

State Senator Morgan McGarvey, of Louisville, says there’s a bipartisan effort to restore voting rights to felons once they finish requirements like parole and probation.

He says the legislation would most likely not include those convicted of rape and murder.

We’re told state lawmakers are working on a proposal for the upcoming January session.
