LONDON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A London police officer was injured Saturday responding to a shoplifting complain when one suspect allegedly put up a fight while being arrested.

Police say officers were trying to arrest Victor Blankenship of Ricetown, and Thomas and Trenton Hensley of Booneville, when Blankenship ran into a nearby wooded area.

Officer Steven Sparks caught up to Blankenship and the two reportedly scuffled. Sparks hand was injured in the altercation. He was treated and released from a nearby hospital.

All three suspects were charged with shoplifting,

Blankenship also was charged with assaulting a police officer, fleeing police, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
