GARRARD COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Two people are wanted in connection to several alleged incidents of animal abuse.

Animal control was dispatched to a Garrard County home Oct. 22 for a report of a deceased dog tied to a tree.

Upon arrival, they reportedly found two severely emaciated dogs and one dog that had died while tied up outside. Because of the nature of the case, animal control called for law enforcement to begin a criminal investigation.

An officer found a pit bull mix that was severely emaciated with ribs showing and what appeared to be a Australian Shephard-Great Pyrenees mix still chained to the front porch. There was also a deceased dog tied to a tree outside. Through the investigation, authorities determined that the dogs belonged to Johnny Denny and Maria Denny who lived at the house.

Arrest warrants were obtained for both Johnny and Maria Denny.

The dogs were brought to the Garrard County Animal Shelter where they are currently being cared for.
