LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Fayette County coroner said Monday morning that a woman has died after being attacked by a pit bull in Clark County.
Authorities say 45-year-old April Collins died Friday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Collins “sustained fatal injuries after being attacked by a pit bull in Clark County,” according to a news release by the coroner.
The cause of death was listed as “pending autopsy.”
The coroner referred all questions about the attack to the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, which could not immediately be contacted for comment.
“The dog is being held at the animal shelter under a court order until we are given further instruction,” the Clark County Humane Society said in a statement. “I’m sorry but we are not able to provide additional details at this time.”
