BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (LEX 18) — A baby kangaroo was among the animals stolen when a thief made off with a traveling zoo.
According to WNKY, the SUV full of animals was stolen from a Bowling Green Panera parking lot. The vehicle was carrying a baby kangaroo, bearded dragon, armadillo, a skink (a type of lizard), silky chicken, a hedgehog and a tortoise.
The vehicle was recovered Sunday in Somerset with all the animals except the baby kangaroo. Later, police were called when a man walked into a restaurant carrying the animal.
Thanks to a Pulaski Co nature center, these animals are safe and headed home. Police say they were ditched in Somerset after being stolen in Bowling Green over the weekend. More on this wild story on @LEX18News at 5:30 pic.twitter.com/Mwelc7OEmC

The kangaroo was recovered. The thief has not yet been arrested.
The owner of the zoo told LEX 18 that all animals are with a wildlife refuge in Lexington and all have been checked by a vet. The co-owner of the organization flew in this morning and is with the animals now.
He said thousands of dollars of equipment are still missing, so they need people to be on the lookout.
