PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A Pulaski County man is happy to be reunited with his dog who went missing over the weekend in a nearby cave.
Blossom was missing for nearly 10 hours.
“I asked the lady that stays with me where Blossom was, she says, ‘I don’t know. The last time I saw her, she was after a cat’,” said Blossom’s owner, Tim Hungler.
The cat led Blossom into an opening of Sloans Valley Cave where she was 40 feet down, A rescue team was called because the hole was so small, but the crew was unsuccessful and said they would come back tomorrow.
The tense situation forced his neighbor to make a post on Facebook, asking if any experienced cavers could help. At 11:00 Saturday night Heidi Muse, and her fiance, Troy, came to the rescue.
“I just kind of free climbed down there and tied Blossom up. They pulled up, made a little harness out of the rope. They pulled me up about 20 feet and then I free climbed the rest of it,” said Muse.
Hungler has covered to hole to prevent this from happening again.
“We hugged. That dog means a whole lot to us. Of course, we are friends for life now,” said Hungler.
Hungler said all six helpers are Good Samaritans in his eyes because Blossom is back home unharmed.
