Victim Identified In Early Morning Hit-And-Run

UPDATE – The driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision on Leestown Road early Friday morning has been identified. Lexington Police arrested Elliott L. Moton, 27, charging him with Leaving the Scene of an Accident/Failure to Render Aid (Felony). He is lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run.

The crash happened just after 2:30 a.m. Friday morning at the intersection of Leestown Road and Greendale Road.

A passing witness located a woman in the inbound lane of Leestown Road. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Auto part debris, believed to have been left by the run vehicle, was located in the roadway. Investigators are currently working to identify the vehicle, operator, potential passengers, and witnesses.

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Nina C. Okawachi.

Police say no one actually witnessed the crash.
