RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18/ WKYM)– Crews are still looking for a man who went underwater at Lake Cumberland.

Emergency management officials say they got the call around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Two people were on a rental houseboat on the main lake when a 61-year-old male went underwater.

According to WKYM, the man who drowned was Robin Edward Adair from Millsap, Texas.

Adair was reportedly a strong swimmer but was not wearing a personal flotation device when he went under. Fish and Wildlife further stated that the current and wind from the dam’s generator could have made it more difficult for him to resurface.

Adair’s wife saw that he was in trouble, but was unable to reach him with the boat.

Multiple rescue teams spent several hours searching for the missing man. They used everything from sonar equipment to dive teams.
