PIKEVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — Pike County Central’s band was left high and dry after a company that produces band uniforms abruptly closed without filling its order or returning the money.

Band Director Matt Moon says the department is out more than $3,700 after paying for uniforms with the company My Visual Package in Glasgow.

The company is described as a startup manufacturer of custom-printed uniforms, flags and accessories for marching bands. Moon recently started the marching band program up at Pike Central after several years of inactivity.

He placed the order and waited. The uniforms never came.

The Pike Central Marching band had to perform in their first competition show in black T-shirts and bib pants.  They came in second place, losing 10 points for visual effect.

He wrote to the company and received a response saying that the business was closed. The email reads:

“It is with great sadness that we have made the decision to close My Visual Package LLC. The current owners are making every attempt to collect payments we are owed from clients. You will be contacted regarding refunds on any orders. Any questions regarding this process please respond via email.”

There are other schools who have reached out to LEX 18 to say they have had a similar experience with the company. Moon says a few of his marching band parents are attorneys and have sent a letter demanding the return of funds or the uniforms.

In the meantime, the loss of the money has created a strain on the program. Moon had to dip into other funds to pay for used uniforms from another school in Louisville. That extra expense is affecting the costs of transporting students to compete in tournaments.

“A local arts non-profit, CMH Arts Inc. has expressed interest in raising the missing funds needed to support the program,”  Moon told LEX 18.

Donations can be made via check payable to Pike County Central High School Band,

The shop has closed its Glasgow brick and mortar store. According to the Kentucky Secretary of State’s website, the company is listed as pending dissolution.
