LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police arrested a Beverly woman who they say tried to swallow illegal prescription drugs while being questioned by officers.

Authorities say 30-year-old Brittany Lynn Meadows was walking Friday afternoon on old Whitley Road south of London when a deputy stopped her after determining she was wanted on outstanding warrants.

According to police, as the deputy tried to take Meadows into custody, “she reached around to her pocket, pulled a Suboxone strip out and [tried] to place it in her mouth.”

Officials said a brief struggle ensued but Meadows was arrested.

Meadows is charged with possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and resisting arrest.

She was also the subject of two outstanding warrants: one in Laurel District Court for failure to appear on a drug charge and one in Harlan District Court for shoplifting.

Meadows was being held in the Laurel County Detention Center.
