Man Arrested And Charged With Cruelty To Animals

PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A man has been arrested after the Perry County Sheriff’s Office received a call Monday of a horse being neglected on Gearl Valley Drive.

When they arrived on scene, Sergeant Ruey Couch and Perry County Animal Control Officer Tom Caudill found a horse on a rope tied to a tree, according to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office.

They say the horse didn’t have food or water or any shelter and that the horse was very underweight.

The owner of the horse, Jerry Jones, was charged with cruelty to animals 2nd degree. The horse was taken to the Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter in Hazard.
