RICHMOND, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Richmond-based community resource development agency is cutting nearly half of its workforce.

Kentucky River Foothills Development Council Inc. has notified the state that it plans to eliminate 142 employees.

On its website, the agency says it works to develop community resources across a wide area.

“Our core service area is Clark, Estill, Madison and Powell counties,” the agency’s website notes. “Additionally, Head Start serves Clark, Estill, Madison, Powell, Garrard, Jackson, Laurel and Rockcastle counties.”

The site says the agency employed “more than 300 people” before the layoffs were announced.
