HARRODSBURG, Ky. (LEX 18)– The Harrodsburg Conover Education Center of Campbellsville University announced on their Facebook page Monday that they are offering a $2,000 scholarship per person to the Hitachi employees that were affected by recent layoffs.

“The Campbellsville University Conover Education Center is proud to support Hitachi’s employees and welcome them into our University. It is our hope that each person will take advantage of this opportunity to explore a new career path,” said Amy Matthews Director in the Facebook post.

On Monday, LEX 18 received numerous calls from employees of the Hitachi plant about the layoffs.

The exact number of layoffs is unknown. The Mayor of Harrodsburg tells LEX 18 he believes the number of employees who have lost their jobs at over 100.

LEX 18 has reached out to Hitachi and has not yet received a response.
