LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Fayette County Coroner has identified a man killed in an alleged drunk driving crash on New Circle Road late Friday night.

John Rusnak, 57, was pronounced dead shortly after midnight on Saturday, according to a release from the coroner.

The crash happened at 11:45p.m. on New Circle Road near the intersection with Woodhill Drive.

Police say 33-year-old Dean Carson was driving a sport-utility vehicle when he crashed from behind into a car that was stopped at a red light.

Police said the driver of that stopped vehicle, now identified as Rusnak, was pronounced dead.

Carson was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital. A passenger in the SUV was not injured, authorities said.

Police said speed was believed to be a factor in the crash.

Carson was charged with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance. He was being held in the Fayette County Detention Center.

Police say Carson could face further charges.
