LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Disaster relief teams with the Kentucky Baptist Convention are on their way to the Carolinas this morning.

Dozens of volunteers in Lincoln County left before dawn, ready to help with recovery efforts as Florence, now a tropical depression, continues to dump rain.

The organization’s director says teams will deploy a mobile kitchen, shower trailer, chaplains and workers who will handle damage assessments. The kitchen can provide about 25,000 meals a day.

It’s not clear exactly where they ultimately will be going, but one coordinator tells LEX 18 that they expect the devastation to be tremendous.
