JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – Jessamine County Sheriff’s officials now confirm that a death investigation in Wilmore is now a homicide investigation.
Officials on scene say a deceased individual was found Thursday on Pekin Lane in Wilmore. A neighbor who spoke to LEX 18 said he smelled a foul odor and went to investigate.
In the creek, the man found the dead body.

“People bring stuff back in here, I’ve had dead dogs dumped back in here on the road, trash, just anything. But this is the first time we found a body, ” neighbor Joe Houp told LEX 18.
The body is a Hispanic male. The coroner tells LEX 18 that it appears the body was there for a few days.
The man has been identified as 30-year-old Carlos Alberto Meja.
