HARRISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — High water continues to hinder efforts to find a missing fisherman Harrison County, with crews calling off the search Wednesday afternoon after being confined to the shore.

Officials say 77-year-old Porter Lamb went missing Sunday morning after falling into the water. He and a friend were participating in a fishing tournament when their boat got too close to Terry Dam in South Fork Licking River.

Emergency crews returned Wednesday but with the water level at 11 feet with a strong current, they were limited in what they could do.

Officials said the level needed to fall below about 7 feet before they could safely operate. Cadaver dogs were on the scene.

Crews believe they likely won’t be able to get into the water until Wednesday, and even then, they will only be able to search open water. The water near the dam is rough.
