LEITCHFIELD, Ky. (LEX 18) – Grayson County Sheriff’s officials arrested a teen boy who they say slashed and stabbed his grandmother during an argument.
The suspect phoned 911 to report that his grandmother had been stabbed Friday morning.
The GCSO and the Leitchfield Police Department arrived at the residence near the 200-block of Pleasant View Road in Millwood and discovered an elderly female lying in the driveway of the residence.
The female was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital where she is listed in critical condition. She is facing multiple surgeries.
Through investigation, officials say that Douglas R. Benton caused his grandmother’s injuries. They believe he became enraged with her and attacked her from behind stabbing her multiple times in the back. He then grabbed her by the head and slashed her throat and appeared to have stabbed her in the trachea.
Barton was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center and charged with Attempted Murder and Tampering With Physical Evidence.
