FBI Warns About Laser Strikes On Aircraft In Lincoln Co.

Lincoln County laser aircraft

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – The FBI is refocusing efforts to deter and investigate numerous laser strikes on aircraft in central Kentucky.

The majority of recent strikes have occurred over the past year in the Hustonville area of Lincoln County between the nighttime hours of 9 and 11 p.m.

The main hazard is pilots can become distracted or flash-blinded by the light from the laser beam.

FBI officials say anyone shining a laser light at an aircraft could be fined thousands of dollars for each incident.
