FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky (KYTC)– The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that the closure of KY 1685 (Bedford Road) in Franklin County has been extended through mid-September. Recent rains have delayed work to replace an 8-foot diameter culvert under the roadway approximately one-half mile north of the Franklin/Woodford County line near Vansant Road (mile marker 0.46).

KYTC maintenance staff have installed the new pipe underneath KY 1685, but rain and muddy conditions along the creek have hampered efforts to construct the concrete footer and headwall necessary to hold this pipe in place. Crews continue to work in this area utilizing a pump to remove water away from the culvert.

Once the concrete structures around the pipe have been completed, maintenance staff must backfill around the culvert and pave the roadway before it can be opened to traffic. Completion of this project is anticipated to occur the week of September 10.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.  Visit goky.ky.gov for the latest in traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  You can also get traffic information for the District 5 counties at facebook.com/KYTCDistrict5 and twitter.com/KYTCDistrict5 .
