More information has been released regarding an officer-involved shooting in Fleming County.
According to Kentucky State Police, preliminary investigation reveals that Fleming County Sheriff Tim Smith attempted to make a traffic stop on a truck at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, which then failed to stop.
Following a pursuit, the truck turned onto a dirt road, where it temporarily became stuck. Smith exited his vehicle and approached the truck, but it soon began to move again once it gained traction.
Smith gave verbal commands for the driver of the truck to stop. When he failed to do so, Smith fired his agency-issued service weapon and struck the truck's window.
The driver, 34-year-old Isaac Spears, was medically cleared and lodged in the Mason County Detention Center.
According to the Mason County Detention Center website, Spears is charged with reckless driving, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, disregarding a stop sign, first-degree criminal mischief, and third-degree criminal trespassing.
The incident remains under investigation.

A Flemingsburg man is facing charges following an officer-involved shooting on Thursday, the Fleming County Sheriff reports.
The Fleming County Sheriff's Office and Kentucky State Police were in pursuit of a suspect vehicle as part of an ongoing investigation when the pursuit escalated, resulting in the shooting.
Details regarding what led up to the shooting have not been released, FCSO said in a release.
The incident remains under investigation.
