LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky's seniors have missed out on big events from prom and graduation to senior night, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many student-athletes have also lost out on any recognition they would usually get during a "senior night".
The parents and teammates of the Bryan Station High School softball team decided that they want to make up for the typical in-person celebration by surprising seniors with a drive-by parade.
Seniors Amari Miller and Jada Meads were met with honking horns and gifts from their teammates and friends Saturday afternoon.
"I just heard honking and I was really shocked." Miller said.
"I didn't think anybody would do anything," Meads said. "I thought it was just like a done deal. Softball season is over so this was unexpected."
The parade was a reminder that even though we're apart, our seniors have accomplished something worth cheering for and they deserve to be recognized.
