NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — If persistence pays off, Ann Lowery believes she has more than earned her unemployment check. The Nicholasville hair salon owner says she filed for benefits in March. However, as of May 1, she's still waiting for her check.

"The system is saying I'm being processed and it's said that since March 20. It's still saying that," said Lowery.

So what is the hold up? Last Saturday, Gov. Andy Beshear reassured people, like Lowery, that they haven't been forgotten.

"If you signed up in March and you haven't been helped, that is absolutely unacceptable. We are going to be working really hard this week to resolve all of those," said Beshear.

But nearly a week later, Lowery is still out of luck.

"I would just like to know something, did I not cross my t's and dot my i's correctly? what's the problem?" said Lowery
.
She watches Beshear's daily press conference and hopes he keeps his word.
